Split Payments is a quick and easy way to free up some cash for your business—without any paperwork or sneaky hidden fees.

Now, when you make a purchase, you can choose to split it into easy-to-manage instalments and get the purchase amount returned to your account, ready to spend on whatever your business needs.

All it takes is a few clicks, and you can have your money in under 48 hours. There’s just one fixed fee, which will be explained in your Split Payments offer. Repaying your instalments is easy, with a small percentage taken automatically from your SumUp payouts over an agreed repayment period.

You can split any purchase of between £100 and £999.

For now, you can split your payments into 4 easy-to-manage instalments—but you’ll be able to benefit from more payment flexibility as we roll the feature out more widely.

Splitting a payment is quick and easy. Follow these steps to get started:

1. Open the SumUp App

2. Go to your Business Account

3. Tap on the Split Payments banner in your transaction history, or in the transaction details

4. Review and accept the offer and T&Cs

5. Done! Your money will be transferred to the account you receive your SumUp payouts in within 48 hours

Instalments are repaid automatically and completely hassle-free—so you don’t have to lift a finger. 

Instead of charging interest, we simply deduct an agreed percentage from your SumUp sales payouts until your monthly repayment is complete.

If these deductions don’t fully cover a repayment, you can easily request an alternative payment method from the Cash Advance tab at sumup.me or from the SumUp app. We currently support payments via debit card, credit card or bank transfer.

Yes, you only pay one fixed transaction fee which is detailed in your cash advance offer. We don’t charge interest, nor do we charge any fees for additional repayments you may make.

When you split a past purchase, the purchase amount will be transferred to the whichever account you use to receive your SumUp sales payouts.

When you split a payment, you’ll receive an offer with a set period to pay back the cash advance and transaction fee.

To make the repayments, we’ll start to deduct the agreed amount from your SumUp payouts exactly 30 days after the cash advance is transferred to your account.

If you've split a payment and want to repay your remaining instalments in one lump-sum repayment, you can request this in the SumUp app, from the Cash Advance tab at sumup.me, or by contacting our Support team.

Unfortunately, only those we contact directly are eligible to use Split Payments. If you haven’t been invited to view your funding options, you’re not currently eligible for it.

SumUp Split Payments is actually an offshoot of SumUp Cash Advance, both being easy ways to free up some funds for your business. The main difference between the two is that a split payment is paid back over a shorter period of time (4 months) and is designed for smaller purchase amounts.

No, at the moment you can only use one of these two services at the same time.

There are currently two ways of checking the status of a split payment.

From the SumUp app

Open your business account and, depending on your device, tap the settings icon in the top right or on "More" in the bottom right. There, you'll find the Split Payments section which will take you to your cash advance dashboard.

From the SumUp Dashboard

Go to sumup.me and navigate to the cash advance section.
