SumUp Invoices

An invoice is a legal document that you, the seller, send to a customer after they purchase goods or services from you. It details and records the sale, listing the quantities, costs and payment terms.

An invoice is a binding agreement that obliges the customer to pay the price stated.

SumUp Invoices is an easy-to-use invoicing tool. You can create an unlimited number of professional invoices for free and send them to your customers. You only pay a 2.5% transaction fee when your invoice is paid.

Conveniently, with SumUp Invoices, you can create invoices on your computer or your mobile phone, allowing you to do your invoicing from the comfort of your own home or on the go.

To invoice a customer on the go, open your SumUp App, tap “More” and then “Invoices”. To activate SumUp Invoices tap “Start invoicing” and then tap “Create invoice”. Confirm your business details, add information about your customer and the sale, and click “Send invoice”.

Alternatively, you can go to me.sumup.com and send invoices from your desktop or laptop via the Invoices tab on the left.

If you want to use SumUp Invoices but don’t already have a SumUp profile, you can create one in a few minutes.

Typically, invoices should include the following:

• Unique invoice number

• Your company’s name, address and contact details

• Your customer’s name and address, plus company name if applicable

• Description of the goods or services provided

• Date these goods or services were provided

• Invoicing date

• Cost of the goods or services

• VAT amount (if applicable)

• Total amount owed

A VAT number is a 9-digit number given to companies that are registered to pay VAT.

You can find your business’s VAT number on the VAT registration certificate you received from HMRC.
